There are many ways to record your favorite memories and pass your stories on through your family tree.
I was hardly ever one to ‘journal’, until about 6 years ago when my friend Violette introduced me to Art Journal-ling. I had been commenting on how canvases were beginning to take over my art studio and home and she suggested that I try my hand at Art journal-ling. Art Journaling, I had to ask what that was. She opened up her latest journal and pulled out her case of twinkling h2o’s.
Oh my goodness, what a way to create! It takes the pressure off making each image perfect, opens the door to creative experimentation and takes up hardly any space…lol. I began my first art journal in 2008 and incorporated personal notes, magazine clippings and personal photos. I have not looked back. I have however moved on to incorporate way more supplies than just my twinkling h2o’s. My journals are filled mostly with images, as that is my favorite form of creativity. My goal this year is to do one page of writing to one page of art. We will have to check back in later this year to see how I did…lol.
Some of my fave products to work in my art journals with are:
- Caran D-Ache Neocolor crayons
- Twinkling H2O’s
- GOLDEN fluid acrylics
- Prismacolor col-erase pencils (for the initial sketch)
- GOLDEN acrylic glazing liquid
- washi tape
